01. When to choose rebateless doors, and when a concealed frame?

Rebateless doors serve where a project is already being finished, or where it is a renovation — they are fitted last, without any intervention in the wall. They also give a warmer, more classical detail, thanks to the visible timber architraves.

Concealed-frame doors are chosen at shell stage, where the leaf must sit entirely flush with the plane of the wall and minimalism is paramount.

02. What are the principal advantages of rebateless doors?

Most often these decide it:

  • Fitted at the very end of the works — after plaster, paint and floors, with no cutting into the wall.
  • They can be fitted in existing openings and during a renovation.
  • A more classical, warmer appearance than concealed doors — the timber architraves are visible.
  • Adjustable architraves accommodate the thickness of the wall and minor irregularities in it.
  • A leaf of timber construction — good acoustics and stability.
  • Simpler, quicker and less costly to fit than a concealed frame.
03. How can rebateless doors be finished?

A rebateless leaf is finished in four directions: veneer (natural or engineered), lacquer in any RAL/NCS colour (matt, satin or gloss), classical routing with glazing or raised panels, and bespoke coverings (fabric, mirror, wallpaper, unconventional laminates). Every finish is available for both frame systems.

04. Do rebateless doors sit flush with the wall?

No. A closed rebateless leaf sits flush with the architrave, and the frame with its architrave stands some 2 cm proud of the wall. Only concealed-frame doors.

At the very end — after wet trades, painting and the laying of floors. They call for no decision at shell stage and no building into the wall, which makes them the natural choice for renovations and interiors already being finished.
